Peace Corps volunteers are stationed in over 60 countries, most of them developing, and perform a variety of important tasks. According to the organization's website, there are six main sectors in which volunteers are involved: agriculture, environment, community economic development, health, education and developing youth. So, whatever your interests or skills, you should be able to find an area where you think you can make a difference.

The program covers the cost of housing for each volunteer, provides them with a living allowance relative to the community they live in, and gives them over $ 10,000 at the end of their service period to help them make the transition to life at home.

Although by joining the Peace Corps you get technically paid to travel, that's not the reason most people join. Many volunteers find the most valuable take-aways are the skills they learn, the relationships they nurture, and the positive differences they bring to the communities in which they operate.
