Whatever phase we go through with Izzy, be it the crazy startup phase, the “no no NO!” stage or phase of uncontrollable anger (and here ends today's announcement to have a child), there is a part of the day that I have always loved, where she is calm, happy and curious ... and it is, dear reader, bath time.

When Izzy is in the bath, it's like we've entered a different paradigm. She would be happy to splash around for hours in a bucket of water, so give her a nice hot bath with bubbles and toys to play with and she's in Actual Isabelle Heaven.

Once we got past the rubber duck and bath book stage (she loved these but we could tell she got bored once she got a little older), find some fun new toys and attractive for the bath was actually not that easy. We found foam letters and numbers to stick on the tub, a sort of mini basketball net - which she never used - but finding exciting toys to quench her curiosity was few.

I jumped at the chance to try TOMY's new Toomies line of Peppa Pig bath toys - not only because Izzy loves Peppa Pig, but also because they all looked REALLY FUN.

Izzy's older cousin came over a few weeks ago (before the level 2 announcement) and they both loved the ice cream maker!

The new range consists of four different products - Peppa Bubble Ice Cream Maker (I would have done anything for it when I was little) a Pull & Go pedal boat, Peppa Pig swim floats and… (and I love these) the Peppa family squirter assortment.

Don't forget to add your waterings!

The ice cream maker is too bright for words. You just add a bubble bath and water and Izzy can make ice cream. I mean, it's not real ice cream and she knows it… but in her head (and mine) it's completely real. It is absolutely awesome. So fun, so exciting, so sparkling… these are the mechanics that make it so exciting - you have to DO something and the ice cream pops up. Magic.

When it first arrived, Izzy couldn't get it to work without our help. Yet within days, she was doing it entirely on her own and with confidence! It was amazing how her coordination and understanding of how the toy worked improved and developed - so fast! She loves popping the sprinkles on top and putting the ice cream cones back in their holder before getting out of the bath. It's such a smart toy. Her older cousin, who will be 4 this winter, came over for a weekend and she loved it too.

Both the dinosaur and unicorn floats have this shower function, the separate base and the main one that spins when placed under running water.

For those of you with kids who love Peppa (solidarity, friends), you might recognize the TV show's pedal boat. I love how this one can take passengers too - it comes with Daddy Pig and Peppa) and doesn't need batteries - just pull the string and go. Oooh and Peppa and Daddy Pig are squirters too! Squirters? Yes, squirters! Fill them with your bath water and squirt! Cue a lot of cries of Isabelle and hysterical laughter. Plus, these sprinklers are great for cleaning the backs of the ears - my goal is second to none.

You can also buy squirter trio packs, both of which include Peppa and George and Daddy or Mummy Pig.

Peppa Pig bath floats also come in two styles: Peppa and her unicorn Floatie and George and her best friend, Dinosaur.

This shower feature also made washing Izzy's hair a lot easier! She doesn't like the shower, but no problem sitting under the unicorn… (cue eye roll).

I love how elements of the world of Peppa Pig, which she knows and loves, come to life for her in the bath. She absolutely adores these toys and they made bath time one of the highlights of her day (and mine!). (After snacks).

All toys are suitable for ages 18 months and up, but I'm pretty sure Izzy will love them all for a few more years. There is so much life and discovery in all of them and I know that once Izzy finally comes out of them we will pass them on to another lucky little person.

Now, anyone for ice cream?

Stockist information:

You can find all of the products I mentioned above at Argos, Very, B&M, Amazon, and a number of independent stores.
