A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being a part of Amazon Live's Fashion & Beauty show, Style Code Live, talking about one of my favorite things - shoes and more shoes !!! I love it when I'm booked for a concert that mixes both my passion for media and fashion. This is the perfect job!

When the folks at Style Code Live at Amazon Fashion asked me to be a part of the new segment they were doing, SCL +, to talk about anything shoe-related, it was obvious to me. You want me to be on TV (or in this case a live internet stream) discussing my fashion and style - where's the job? I have 6 Emmy nominations for my media work and this site called Kéla's Kloset - it was a job sent from above. #BookedBusyBlessed. The segment was about shoes I could talk about for hours let alone 15 minutes. I truly believe that shoes can make or break an outfit and are always worth the investment. No matter how much weight you gain or lose, your shoes still fit. The funny thing about this segment is that it also featured shoe closet tours from some of your favorite fashion bloggers, which all gave me a real craving for sole. WATCH HERE

Funny story: I bought two different looks for my segment that producers could choose from. As soon as I stepped out with that mustard yellow top and jeans, host Dimpy sent me right back into the room - she was wearing the exact same combo. I was really happy with this because this red, white, and gingham look was my top pick for the segment. However, you are not supposed to be wearing tight prints on the camera, but after taking a test it all worked! Although the almost twin vibes with Dimpy let me know we were gonna click on the show and boy, have we. Dimpy was so wonderful and welcoming; not all talent is so kind to share their scene but she was more than happy to do so. Not only a talking head, she's also the fashion producer for Amazon Live, which handles a lot of the content and stories you see throughout the show. I love a woman who knows her way in front of the camera and behind the scenes * raises her hand *. Like I said, we instantly connected. Check it out HERE

(I feel like I'm a bit of a big deal)

What's cool about Style Code Live and the SCL + segment I did to kick off the nightly show is that 1- it's Live and 2- you can shop whatever you see on the show in real time. Since we were talking about everything shoe-related, you could purchase both mine and Dimpy's shoes as well as featured bloggers while you watched the show. How is that stupid? It's my kind of show. In fact, I wanted to gain more live experience under my belt and it was THE perfect place to put my skills to the test. Co-hosting with Dimpy, I felt like I was playing with my girlfriend, but with cameras filming us and over 20 million people watching. Not much.

Watch the segment to see all featured shoes but here are a few pairs that I am in. I have a soft spot for all the knot / bow look that is going on now and I love shoes that go out of fashion.

I had the most fun on the SCL + set and hope to be booked to do everything again soon.

Sometimes it can feel like maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an overwhelming challenge that doesn’t fit within the realities of daily life. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator is a simple way to get a little more physical activity in your daily life. It also strengthens and tones your legs and core while you’re at it !

A simple hack for healthy eating ( and portion control ) is to make half your plate veggies at each meal. The veggies pack in essential vitamins, minerals and other phytonutrients important for health and longevity. And, because they’re rich in fiber, they help to aid digestion ( aka keep you regular ! ) and keep you feeling full longer.

Using a fitness tracker ( like the Fitbit, Apple Watch or similar ) to track your steps is an easy way to make sure you’re getting enough physical activity each day. We aim for 10, 000 steps daily, which has significant physical and esprit health benefits. The Fitbit will also remind you to get 250 steps each hour ( another important measure of health

Conventional household cleaning products are full of harmful chemical ingredients that are not good for our health ( or the health of our kids or pets ! ). Switching to healthier alternatives is a simple way to reduce your exposure to environmental toxins in your home. Similar to cleaning products, conventional skincare and personal care products are formulated with toxic ingredients we should not regularly let absorb into our body’s largest organ. Reduce the toxic burden on your body by switching to non-toxic personal care and beauty products ( see our specific recommendations on deodorant, sunscreen, and green beauty products ).

Maintaining a saine gut has significant impacts on absorption, skin health, immunity, esprit health and more. Taking a daily probiotic with a glass of water each morning is one of the simplest things you can do to boost your gut health ( which, in turn, boosts overall health in many ways too ). Aim to eat real food that’s made of whole food ingredients you would have in your own kitchen pantry, or that your grandmother would recognize. ( Yup, this rules out most packaged food, sorry ! ) This is a little different than suggesting you eat only “health foods” ( many of which are increasingly processed ! ). “Real food” includes unprocessed foods like an apple, a cucumber, soybeans or a steak, as well as foods loosely processed from one ( or few ) real-food ingredients, like butter, olive oil, yogurt, tofu, etc. In other words, aim for foods that could be reasonably made in your own kitchen and avoid foods that can only be made in a lab.

Reduce the harmful effects of sitting ( like at your desk job ) by standing up and moving around for a minute or two every half hour.

Vitamin D is one of the most important nutrients for overall health, and sunlight is one of our best sources of it. Aim to get at least 30 minutes of sunlight each day—preferably in the afternoon, and without sunscreen ( read more about that here ). Not much sunlight in the winter where you real ? It might be worth supplementing with a vitamin D supplement and/or other food sources of this essential nutrient.

Houseplants help to cleanse your indoor air ( sadly, it probably needs it ! ), they’re pretty, and research even shows they improve mood, creativity and problem solving !

Aim to sweat in some way each day—whether that’s via course, biking, dancing, hot yoga, or any other physical activity you enjoy.
