You asked and we listened! We're excited to announce that you can now receive notifications when your Owlet Cam detects sound and motion events. Enjoy extra peace of mind while your child is sleeping or playing in the other room. Sound and motion notifications can be customized to suit your home's needs by adjusting sensitivity thresholds and / or notification frequency so you never feel too far away from your little one.
Both sound and motion have settings that allow you to adjust them to your individual preferences. If you get too many (or not enough) notifications based on your baby's movements and sound activity, you can adjust the sensitivity level to specifically match your family's needs.
You can also adjust the time between notifications. This allows you to determine how often you will receive alerts once your baby starts making noise or moving around. For example, if your sound notifications are set for 5 minutes and the baby continues to cry for more than 5 minutes after you drop them, we will not send you another notification until that time expires.
Enabling sound and motion notifications
To enable sound and motion notifications on your Cam, first update your Owlet app and make sure your Cam's firmware is also updated to version 1.9.1. Then open your Owlet app and activate the switch next to Cam Notifications on the home page.
In the Account tab, select the camera under My Owlet Devices and scroll to Owlet Camera Settings to adjust the following sound and motion detection settings:
Sound notification settings
In the sound notifications settings, you can adjust the following detection settings:
ON / OFF: Enable to enable sound detection notifications. When sound detection is disabled, all phones / mobile devices logged in with your Owlet account will stop receiving sound detection notifications.
High Sensitivity: High sensitivity means your camera will notify you when it detects any noise.
Low Sensitivity: Low sensitivity means your camera will only notify you when it detects a significant amount of noise.
Delay between notifications: minimum delay before receiving your next notification.
Motion notification settings
In the motion notifications settings, you can adjust the following detection settings:
ON / OFF: When motion detection is disabled, all phones / mobile devices logged in with your Owlet account will stop receiving motion detection notifications.
High Sensitivity: High sensitivity means your camera will notify you when it detects even the slightest movement.
Low Sensitivity: Low sensitivity means your camera will only notify you when it detects a significant amount of motion.
Enable / disable cam notifications
The home page toggle turns sound AND motion notifications on and off for your mobile device.
Note: Enabling / disabling notifications with this toggle will have no impact on the settings of any other devices you may have that access this account.
Additional settings and customizations for Cam notifications can be found in the Cam setting in the Account tab.
Please note: notification settings are camera specific, so you need to enable your camera notifications from the home page of the Owlet app. The cam notification ON / OFF toggle allows you to manage your notifications on your individual phone, so that you only receive them when you want to.
Additionally, enabling camera notifications for the first time will automatically enable sound and motion notifications on the settings page.
If you are unable to receive notifications, make sure that notifications are enabled on your phone's operating system.
