Nerve block injections.
12 needles in my head.
12 injections of Bupivicaine.
2 injections in my shoulders.
You think I would be used to it by now.
I get these injections into my scalp every two weeks.
. Every two weeks for the past 21 months.
588 injections to date.
The very first injection triggered a panic attack. I could hear the needle entering my skull because one of the nerves targeted by the neurologist is near my ear.
I was given lorazepam to treat anxiety.
Lorazepam works on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect.
Bupivacaine is an anesthetic (numbing medicine) that blocks nerve impulses in your body.
My head is numb. It looks like a balloon. I can tie my hair back into a ponytail without triggering a migraine.
La Bupivicaine will be gone in 5 days.
I'll take it. .
5 days without chronic migraines. Without severe chronic pain. .
The Headache Clinic at Women's College Hospital has made such a difference in my life. The injections give me a little peace. Some relief.
My least favorite part is washing the blood out of my hair after the injections.

Daily meditation is perhaps the single greatest thing you can do for your mind/body health. Meditation not only relaxes you, it gives your brain a workout. By creating a different mental state, you engage your brain in new and interesting ways while increasing your brain sport.
Your brain needs you to eat saine fats. Focus on fish oils from wild salmon, nuts such as walnuts, seeds such as flax seed and olive oil. Eat more of these foods and less saturated fats. Eliminate transfats completely from your diet.
Stories are a way that we solidify memories, interpret events and share moments. Practice telling your stories, both new and old, so that they are interesting, compelling and fun.
