Week 7 is typically the midpoint in most fantasy leagues before the playoffs start.

Ahh, what a wonderful time of year.

Last week, struggling star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. suffered a season-ending injury. Playing the waiver thread correctly will help for the next few weeks as other injuries could occur, but you need to be very aggressive.

Take the example of last week, when Antonio Brown signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It went from almost 4% held Friday in ESPN leagues to 75% by the end of the weekend. The owners collect low in the hope that Brown can be productive and exceed his value. These type of low risk / high reward moves can keep teams afloat to make the playoffs. Keep in mind that nobody's list looks like it was when it was made. Now let's take a look at some possible pickups this week.

Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals RB (owned in 52% of leagues)

Joe Mixon appears to have a foot injury that could prevent him from coming out for a while. Coming in comes the player Mixon initially beat for the running back position, Giovani Bernard. Bernard is a passing back who has been in this position before and has performed well. Last week, the eight-year-old vet tallied for 37 rushing yards, 59 receiving yards and one touchdown, which totaled 15 points in the standard leagues. Bernard could be a great alternative for a spell and should be your number one for the week.

JaMycal Hasty, San Francisco 49ers RB (3%)

The 49ers have been hit the hardest so far this season. That didn't stop them as they've been in every game, including their Patriots blowout at Foxborough on Sunday. It seems that the “next man” philosophy worked for them.

The next person is Hasty. Hasty replaces Jeff Wilson, who replaced Raheem Mostert. Coach Kyle Shanahan knows how to organize new running backs and Hasty is next. Hasty has a chance to be the next Mostert, who arrived late due to back racing injuries last year in the Super Bowl race. In weeks 12-16, Mostert averaged 12 carries, 75 yards and one touchdown per game. Hasty is available in 97% of leagues and is worth it.

Rashad Higgins, Cleveland Browns WR (0.2%)

With Beckham out, Higgins will start on receiver with Jarvis Landry. Higgins stood out on Sunday by shooting six passes for 110 yards. Beckham owners will likely consider Higgins as an immediate replacement. The opportunity is here for Higgins to shine and ultimately be a trade chip for aggressive owners. Higgins is practically available in all leagues and should start as long as he's healthy for the rest of the year.

Richard Rodgers, Philadelphia Eagles TE (4%)

Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz have been ruled out for the Eagles' next game. Their
The replacement is a former Aaron Rodgers target and his name is Richard Rodgers. Rodgers will by no means be one of the elites in his post, but this week he's playing the Cowboys, who have struggled mightily against tight ends. Plus, Carson Wentz stepped it up recently and can use a safety valve like Rodgers. Like Higgins, he's available in almost every league and can help you out if you're having tough issues.
