Meet Emma Norris
Growing up, Emma Norris loved to read and write. By the time she was in school, she really enjoyed writing short stories and songs in addition to doing writing homework which allowed her to get creative. During her time in high school, like most teenage girls, Norris discovered that she had a love for magazines. As her peers worked out their career plans, she knew she wanted to be a writer and study journalism in order to work on magazines in the future.
In college, she ended up doing an internship at a magazine where she got her foot in the door and got her first job at an entertainment magazine. Over the next several years, Norris spent her time writing and working in publishing until she realized that journalism seemed to be going digital and that she needed a digital experience to survive in the world of publishing. It was then that she decided to work on a digital publishing website / blog.

Launch of her blog: A Girl in Progress
Over the years, Norris started a few blogs in college. She always knew she wanted to blog to some extent since she loved writing, but nothing seemed to stick. Like most bloggers, Norris struggled to find a niche and stick to it for the long haul, so she decided to mix her passions and develop a way of life blog that covered a few different categories that interested him, such as career and wellness. Then the inspiration hit.
“Through work events where I was surrounded by a lot of influencers who put forward a vision of perfection, I found that I couldn't understand. I can be uncoordinated and goofy, but at the same time I am very motivated and goal oriented. I felt there should be a platform for the everyday girl who is still a work in progress but who is so creative and wants more for herself. This is where the concept of A Girl In Progress was born. "
From her own experiences of overcoming procrastination and doing more work on her mindset, she realized how many other women were dealing with the same issues as she did. “Especially in women, we're so much more prone to perfectionism,” Norris said. “It made me sad that perfectionism keeps so many women from having their voices heard, preventing them from launching what turns them on and creating that life they love. I knew I had to do something about it.
Having worked on traditional blogs in the past, Norris wrote them from a personal perspective. But for A Girl in Progress, Norris wanted to go against the grain and create a platform for other voices besides his own by researching writers. However, to start her blog, she had to overcome her own feelings of pursuit of perfection and overcome her own procrastination obstacles in order to successfully help other girls on their journey.
“I've had a lot of issues with the mentality blocks you face when you throw anything, 'What are people going to think in real life that I know? "," What will the people I have worked with think? ". "I wrote each chapter as if it could function as a stand-alone blog post and was lucky that it was similar to the type of content I post on the blog."
