Oreo Truffles via A Beautiful Mess Oreo truffles are one of my all-time favorite things to do while on vacation. I was introduced to these about 10 years ago when a friend of mine, Nathan, gave me a bundle as a holiday gift. At the time, I was living at home with my parents, and my mother and I fell deeply in love with them.

My mom enjoys sweets almost as much as I do. Almost. Must be genetic. 🙂

Easy Oreo TrufflesI think he called them something different though. Reindeer tracks? Reindeer droppings? Something appetizing like that. 🙂

Whatever the name, these are too delicious and too easy to prepare. No cooking required. I highly recommend gifting them to friends or colleagues as they are highly addictive and basically only contain sugar and cream. So… you've been warned.

How to make oreo truffles Easy Chocolate Truffles (Oreo), makes about two dozen.

28-30 Oreo cookies, or other chocolate cookies of similar size
8 ounces of softened cream cheese
12 ounces dark chocolate chips
4-6 ounces white chocolate chips (optional)
2-3 tablespoons, crushed pepper mint or Candy canes
assorted christmas nuggets or whatever you find in your pantry

First of all, crush the cookies. I like to use a food processor to do this. This makes it much faster. Then add the softened cream cheese along with the crushed cookies.

How to make oreo truffles Press the dough into small balls and place on plates or a cutting board lined with parchment or waxed paper. Put them in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes.

Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. I melted mine in the microwave in a heatproof bowl for 30 seconds. Then I took it off and waved. Then return to microwave on high power for another 30 seconds, and so on until completely melted. This helps it not to get too hot and to get those overcooked crispy bits that can sometimes form.

How to make oreo trufflesUse a fork to dip the chilled balls (laughter - sorry, I don't have a class) into the melted chocolate. Gently pat the fork on the side of the bowl with the truffle on the end to remove the excess chocolate. Return to the lined plate. Cover immediately with dusting or crushed peppermint.

Easy Oreo Truffles I also melted some white chocolate to get these splashed truffles. This is optional. You have to dirty yet another dish. But I think they look really cute, and you're doing quite a bit of damage already, so why not? That's my motto.

These will set on their own, but to speed up the process, just put them back in the freezer.

Oreo Truffles via A Beautiful MessPlace them in mini baking tins for a professional presentation. If you can find a cute decorative box, you can totally put it inside and look like a genius. So do this. Keep in mind that these are made with chocolate and cream cheese, so they should be kept in the fridge when not being served / eaten.

Reduce the harmful effects of sitting ( like at your desk travail ) by standing up and moving around for a minute or two every half hour.

Vitamin D is one of the most important nutrients for overall health, and sunlight is one of our best sources of it.
