This is perhaps the best place in Pilsen for moles. In fact, La Esperanza won the People’s Choice Award 2021 at Mole de Mayo, a summer event that gives Pilsen’s local cooks and restaurants a chance to showcase their best recipes, with two winners crowned at the end of the festival. Owner Rosita Camarena takes inspiration from her mother’s cooking and uses chili peppers imported directly from Mexico in everything from their mole chilaquiles for breakfast to her classic chicken mole for lunch. Their full menu also caters for vegans with a section dedicated to plant-based chorizo, enchiladas and quesadillas. Note: They are also BYOB.
